What happens once you have applied for a role and have sent in your resume?

Your application will be acknowledged within 24 hours of Escient receiving your email. If your application is received over the weekend, we will do our best to get back to you on the following business day.

What’s next?

Once the application period for the advertised role has closed, all applicants will be shortlisted and unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email.

The Manager, People and Culture responsible for the role would usually then be back in contact with shortlisted applicants within a week or so of the closing date.

If your circumstances change in that time (such as being successful in securing another role or you are going away) you are welcome to contact us via to let us know.

If you are shortlisted for interview, we will contact you on the phone to organise this. If you are unsuccessful in reaching the interview phase, we will further update you of this and contact you via email.

I have an interview – what should I expect?

In the first interview you will most likely just meet with the Manager, People and Culture. You can expect in this first interview that you will be asked a range of behaviourally based questions where you will need to demonstrate the skills and experience that qualify you for the role. The interview time is likely to be between 45 minutes – 1 hour.

What does a second interview look like at Escient?

A second interview will be arranged by the Manager, People and Culture and where possible, with two Escient Consultants for a peer interview. You can expect this conversation to be more technical in nature and will require you to draw on your previous work experience to give practical examples that help you demonstrate and answer the questions asked. This interview will also give you an opportunity to hear from the horse’s mouth what it is really like to work as a Consultant at Escient and have any questions answered by our team of Consultants. Where possible, this interview will be kept to 1 hour.

Is that it or is there another interview?

The final conversation you will have as a 3rd interview is with the Regional Managing Director. This is typically a less formal conversation and more of a getting to know you final chat. It is also a great opportunity for you to meet with one of the executive leadership team who manages the region and will provide you the opportunity to further explore any last questions you may have.

Pre-employment checking

You will be required to provide at least two referees. These will need to be people you have actually reported to or those who have been key stakeholders in your previous roles – not colleagues. Escient utilise online reference checking provider Xref to conduct its reference checking process.

Your qualifications will be verified and you will also need to provide physical proof of your eligibility to work in Australia. A police, background and bankruptcy check may also be required.


If you successfully satisfy the reference checking process we will generally make a verbal offer over the phone followed by a written offer of employment via email.

If you are unsuccessful at any stage

We try to ensure you have a positive experience through our recruitment process and we respect each person we have contact with. If you have not secured an interview, we appreciate this can be hard. We can at times receive hundreds of applications for roles and as a result, the vast majority of those who apply don’t make it through to interview stage. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we are not in a position to handle giving feedback to each person individually. You will however be advised via email and you are welcome to apply again in the future for any other roles we advertise that may be of interest to you.
