The challenge

To deliver on their competitive strategy, retain current members and attract new business, a Brisbane based mutual bank embarked on a lending transformation program, including the upgrade of its core Loan Origination System capabilities.

Delivery of their digital transformation agenda relied on the successful embedding of new systems and ways of working across their teams. Faced with their largest program of work in decades, this mutual bank engaged Escient to help uplift internal change management and project delivery capabilities, better equipping them for the continuous large-scale change ahead.

The approach

Escient’s specialist project delivery team established and executed a tailored change management strategy to deliver their Lending Transformation Program whilst also elevating their internal maturity and future capabilities.

Key deliverables included:
  • Establishing and implementing an overarching organisational Change Management Strategy in line with best practice PROSCI methodology
  • Driving change adoption by maintaining focus and momentum upon project milestones and ensuring people’s readiness
  • Collating evidence of success factors and developed Project Change Readiness Reports to influence ‘Go-Live’ decision making and project closure proceedings
  • Establishing a sense of celebration and readiness during project go-live activities.
  • Creating an understanding of how change fits within a project delivery cycle
  • Coaching and mentoring Senior Leadership Team to enhance internal change capabilities
  • Establishing key artefacts and governance frameworks for the Bank’s newly established Program Management Office
  • Identifying and managing change risks and challenges associated with in-flight projects and developing mitigation strategies and measures for successful implementation.
  • Forming a Change Champion Network to support ongoing organisational needs

The outcome

Through these engagements, our client has successfully lifted the change maturity and capability within their organisation. Our approach has helped shape new attitudes and behaviours to normalise change as a constant, accelerate technology adoption and foster a curious and continuous learning culture.
